- Paper 1 (Class 1-5): 12th pass (50%) + D.El.Ed. OR Bachelor's + D.El.Ed. OR Bachelor's + B.Ed. (special). Paper 2 (Class 6-8): Bachelor's + B.Ed. OR specific equivalents.
- D.El.Ed. = Diploma in Elementary Education (2 years).
- B.Ed. = Bachelor of Education (2 years post-graduation).

CBSE has officially revised the CTET 22nd edition exam dates from September to December 12 and 13, 2026. The correction window for September cycle applications closed on September 10, 2026.
CBSE's public notice dated 14 September 2026 says the 22nd edition of CTET will be conducted on 12 and 13 December 2026. The exam city and the date allotted to each candidate will be on the CTET portal 15 days before the exam, and the admit card with the exam centre two days before. Dates reported earlier for this edition (including 9 October) no longer apply.
Following a court order, CBSE reopened the CTET September 2026 application window from August 25 to September 1, 2026, allowing candidates who missed the earlier deadline to apply.
