Explain in my language

Under the solution of a mock test or practice question on Shishya, the button Explain in my language writes that solution in the language you pick. The question and its options stay as they are on the page (in the language you are practising in), so you keep reading questions the way your paper sets them, and understand the steps in the language you think in.

Your first explanation needs no account. After that, sign up free with Google to keep using it: up to 10 new explanations a day (ones already written for a question open any time).

Where you find the button

Not on school class pages or the children's olympiads and entrance tests: the button is for students 13 and older.

Languages, and how each explanation is checked

Every explanation is machine translated with AI from Shishya's English solution, and says so under it with the checks that ran. If a translation fails its checks after one retry, it is not shown; you keep the English solution. An English-language question (grammar, vocabulary) keeps its English solution.

LanguageChecks on every explanation
हिन्दी (Hindi)5 automatic checks; some also get a back-translation meaning check (the label says when)
मराठी (Marathi)5 automatic checks; some also get a back-translation meaning check (the label says when)
ಕನ್ನಡ (Kannada)5 automatic checks; some also get a back-translation meaning check (the label says when)
தமிழ் (Tamil)5 automatic checks
తెలుగు (Telugu)5 automatic checks
বাংলা (Bengali)5 automatic checks
ગુજરાતી (Gujarati)5 automatic checks
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ (Punjabi)5 automatic checks
മലയാളം (Malayalam)4 automatic checks
ଓଡ଼ିଆ (Odia)4 automatic checks

One label, in full (a Hindi explanation with the meaning check): Machine translated with AI from Shishya's English solution — checked: every number kept; exam terms from Shishya's glossary; written in the language's own script; nothing dropped or added (length); the same option letters; translated back to English and compared for meaning. It can still be wrong; the English solution is above.

The exam terms come from Shishya's glossary of exam words in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati and Kannada; Malayalam and Odia do not have one yet, so that check does not run for them. Each explanation is made once per question and language and kept, so the next student sees the same checked text.

Tamil first on NEET and JEE

On the NEET UG, JEE Main and JEE Advanced mocks and practice, தமிழ் (Tamil) is the first language in the picker, then Hindi. The question stays as it is on the page; the solution comes in Tamil. (To read the questions themselves in Tamil, use the language switch inside the mock.) NEET UG · JEE Main

हिंदी में परीक्षा पेज (Hindi versions of exam pages)

Exam pages are in English by default. The pages of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan exams have a one-tap link to their Hindi version, and back. Many headings and buttons there are in Hindi; most exam details are still in English.

Hinglish in Ask Shishya

In Ask Shishya, pick how the AI tutor replies: Auto, English, हिंदी or Hinglish (Hindi in English letters, with exam terms in English). The choice is kept in your browser. If you name a language in your question ("explain in Telugu"), that language is used.

Read off Shishya's own code and checks on 27 Oct 2026.
