The J&K Government has officially designated JKBOSE and State School Standards Authority as nodal agencies for conducting JKTET 2026 under Government Order No. 87-JK (Edu) of 2026, following a Supreme Court judgment on RTE Act implementation.
TET qualification has been made compulsory for both government and registered private school teachers. In-service teachers must qualify within 2 years or face compulsory retirement, and those nearing retirement cannot seek promotion without clearing JKTET.
