Government internships and apprenticeships: where to apply and how to get alerts
These are the government-run internship and apprenticeship portals. Shishya lists no private openings — each portal below has its own login, and that is where its notifications come from. Shishya's only internship email is an opt-in one when PMIS or AICTE publish a new round's opening date.
Every step below was read on the official pages listed at the end, on 22 Oct 2026.
Shishya never asks for your Aadhaar, bank details or any ID. Nothing on this page asks you for anything. Type those details only on the official portal, at its own address.
PM Internship Scheme (Ministry of Corporate Affairs)
- PIB, 22 Apr 2026: the pilot phase now admits final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a No Objection Certificate from the institution (signed by the HoD, Dean, Principal or Training & Placement Officer) saying the internship will not interfere with studies. PIB, 22 Apr 2026 ↗
- Eligible youth between 18 and 25 years can apply; interns receive minimum financial assistance of ₹9,000 a month; the third round of the pilot was under way, with companies posting openings on an ongoing basis. Other eligibility rules of the scheme continue — read them on the portal.
- Apply only on the portal: register there and apply to the openings that fit you. PM Internship portal ↗
AICTE National Internship Portal (Ministry of Education)
- AICTE describes it as the National Internship Portal, with internships for AICTE, UGC, IGNOU and other students. On 22 Oct 2026 its listings included ministry and public-body programmes such as TULIP (smart cities), NHAI, MoRTH and the Land Ports Authority. AICTE internship portal ↗
- How: register as a student, then apply to listed internships from your dashboard.
NATS — apprenticeships for graduates and diploma holders (Ministry of Education)
- The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme places graduates and diploma holders (engineering, humanities, science and commerce) as paid apprentices in companies and public bodies. NATS 2.0 portal ↗
- Stipend: the Cabinet's 2021 approval for 2021-22 to 2025-26 set ₹9,000 a month for graduates and ₹8,000 for diploma holders; in May 2025 the Central Apprenticeship Council recommended a revision. Check the current amount on the portal. PIB, Nov 2021 ↗
- The NATS 2.0 portal says e-KYC (Aadhaar OTP, done on the portal) and an APAAR ID are now mandatory to get an apprenticeship and the government share of stipend by DBT; the portal can create an APAAR ID for you.
- Help (printed on NATS): natssupport@aicte-india.org; APAAR support 18008893511; regional numbers are listed on the home page.
NAPS — apprenticeships under the Apprentices Act (Ministry of Skill Development)
- The Apprenticeship India portal runs the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme: register, complete your profile and apply to apprenticeship openings posted by establishments. Apprenticeship India portal ↗
- Under the NAPS guidelines the government shares 25% of the prescribed minimum stipend, up to ₹1,500 a month per apprentice; the employer pays the rest. NAPS guidelines (PDF) ↗
National Career Service (Ministry of Labour & Employment)
- The government's job portal for jobseekers, including freshers: register, build a profile and search vacancies; your registered profile is where its job notifications come from. NCS portal ↗
How to get alerts — honestly
- Register on the portal that fits you (PMIS if you are 18-25; NATS if you hold a degree or diploma; NAPS for apprenticeships under the Apprentices Act; NCS for jobs) and keep your email and mobile current there — notifications come from the portal.
- Government-exam jobs: every exam on Shishya has "Get alerted" on its dates page — email alerts with no account needed. Find your exam →
- Shishya does not send private-job alerts and lists no private openings. Its one internship email (opt-in, no account): when the PM Internship Scheme or AICTE publish the opening date of a new round on their official pages. The weekly list of official internships is on Internships this week. Internships this week →
Scam check
- Apply only on the official addresses above (gov.in, nic.in, aicte-india.org). Shishya found no application fee on these portals; anyone asking for money to "confirm" a PMIS, NATS or NAPS seat is a red flag — check on the portal and its helpline.
- Do not send your Aadhaar, bank details or OTP to anyone on WhatsApp or by email for an "internship offer". The portals do e-KYC themselves.
