KVS and NVS Teaching and Non-Teaching Recruitment (CBSE) — Tier-1
Recruitment of teachers (PRT, TGT, PGT and others) and non-teaching staff for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, conducted by CBSE. Tier-1 is a common screening test of 100 questions for 300 marks in 2 hours — General Reasoning, Numeric Ability, Basic Computer Literacy and General Knowledge (20 each), and English and one other Indian language (10 each). The top candidates move to a post-wise Tier-2 subject test, then an interview or skill test for many posts.

Shishya's practice papers
Two full papers of 100 questions in 120 minutes, in the official sections and counts (General Reasoning 20, Numeric Ability 20, Basic Computer Literacy 20, General Knowledge 20, Language Competency Test (English) 10, Language Competency Test (Hindi) 10). The questions are Shishya's own practice questions — drafted with AI, then read and answer-checked in review — not questions from any past KVS / NVS paper. The subject tests and topic quizzes on this page use the same questions.
- Part VI (Language Competency, one other Indian language) is in Hindi on Shishya; in the real test you choose the language from the list in the notice.
- Tier-1 is the same structure for PRT, TGT and PGT; only the level changes (PGT is set at post-graduation level — there is no PGT-level paper here yet). Tier-2 (subject knowledge, per post) is not included.
- The NVS Multi Tasking Staff Tier-1 has different parts and is not what these papers follow.
- General awareness here is static (history, geography, polity, economy, science, sports). There are no current-affairs questions, because those go out of date; read the news for that part.

What can I get from KVS / NVS?
Mock-score → estimated rank → likely outcome (an estimate, not official). Use the mocks below to find your current band, then plan how many marks you need to climb.
Top screening range
85–100% · No rank estimate
- •Very likely in range for Tier-2 across the posts you qualify for
- •Strong starting position for the final merit, which is still decided by Tier-2 and the interview or skill test
- •Focus on Tier-2 subject depth and pedagogy, as that now separates candidates
- •Check eligibility conditions (qualification, CTET where required) for each post before applying
Strong Tier-1 performance
72–85% · No rank estimate
- •Likely shortlisted for Tier-2 in most teaching and non-teaching posts you are eligible for
- •Reasonable position for competitive posts, though the final cut-off varies by post, category and cycle
- •Shift most of your effort to the post-wise Tier-2 subject test
- •Prepare for the interview or skill test, which applies to many posts
Competitive for Tier-2
60–72% · No rank estimate
- •Likely in range for Tier-2 shortlisting for several teaching posts (PRT, TGT, PGT) depending on vacancies
- •Likely in range for some non-teaching posts, depending on post-wise cut-offs
- •Tier-2 subject test and interview or skill test, where applicable, then decide the final merit list
- •Keep Tier-1 accuracy high, as Tier-1 only screens and the later stages carry the selection
Borderline for shortlisting
45–60% · No rank estimate
- •Possible Tier-2 shortlist only for posts with fewer applicants or lower competition
- •Outcome depends on that cycle's post-wise cut-off, which is not stored here, so check the official result notice
- •Reserved categories may be in range for some posts where the general category is not
- •Begin Tier-2 subject test preparation now rather than waiting for the result
Far from Tier-2 shortlist
30–45% · No rank estimate
- •Tier-2 shortlisting is unlikely at this level for most posts
- •Shortlisting is post-wise and category-wise, so competitive posts will need a much stronger Tier-1 score
- •Revise the 20-question sections (Reasoning, Numeric Ability, Computer Literacy, General Knowledge) first
- •Start Tier-2 subject preparation alongside, since it decides final selection
Below screening level
0–30% · No rank estimate
- •Unlikely to be shortlisted for Tier-2 this cycle
- •Negative marking is likely pulling the score down, so work on accuracy before attempting more questions
- •Rebuild basics in Reasoning, Numeric Ability and General Knowledge, the weighted sections
- •Treat this as a baseline and plan a full preparation cycle before the next notification
Estimate (not official): AI-written from the exam's pattern and, where Shishya stores them, published cut-offs. The score bands and rank windows are not from the conducting body's rank data.
