CLAT — Common Law Admission Test (UG), Consortium of National Law Universities
CLAT, conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities, is the admission test for the undergraduate (five-year integrated LLB) programmes of the participating National Law Universities. CLAT 2027 is on Sunday 6 December 2026, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm; the online application portal is open from 3 August to 31 October 2026 (Consortium press release, 22 July 2026). UG paper: 120 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each in 2 hours, with 0.25 mark deducted for each wrong answer — English Language 22–26 questions, Current Affairs including General Knowledge 28–32, Legal Reasoning 28–32, Logical Reasoning 22–26 and Quantitative Techniques 10–14 (approximate numbers, per the Consortium). Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent with 45% marks (40% for SC, ST and PwD); candidates appearing in the qualifying exam in March/April 2027 may apply; no upper age limit. The postgraduate (LL.M.) CLAT is a separate paper not described here.

- Class 12 with minimum 45% (40% for SC/ST/PwBD) from any recognised board.
- Candidates appearing in Class 12 in the same year can apply.
- There is no stream restriction — Science, Commerce and Humanities students are all eligible.
- Attempts
- Unlimited attempts.
- Nationality
- Indian citizen, NRI, OCI, PIO or foreign national (separate seat quotas apply for foreign categories).
