- Category differential: General cutoffs typically run 10-15 marks above OBC, 20-25 marks above SC, and 25-30 marks above ST. EWS slots usually settle 5-8 marks below General.
- Annual variation drivers: Total vacancies (higher vacancies = marginally lower cutoffs), regional force-wise distribution, exam difficulty level, and PST/PET attrition rates significantly influence final qualifying marks. Some years witness 3-5% swings.
- Force preference consideration: Scoring in the 75-85% band (120-136 marks) dramatically improves chances for preferred central forces (BSF, CRPF, CISF); qualifying cutoffs merely ensure list inclusion, not choice postings.
