CG TET tricks & mnemonics — save minutes on exam day
Subject-wise short tricks and memory hacks for Chhattisgarh Teacher Eligibility Test (CG TET). Each one is meant to be used in the exam hall — read it, then lock it in with a quick practice question.
Child Development and Pedagogy (Bal Vikas evam Shiksha Shastra)
CCE 3-Domain Triangle — CCE assesses Cognitive-Affective-Psychomotor domains; remember "CAP your assessment" (C=written tests, A=observation/attitude, P=practical/projects). All three must be present for comprehensive evaluation.
RTE 3-14-25% Rule — Right to Education Act 2009: Free & Compulsory education for ages 3 to 14 years (remember "3-14 = 11 years span"), 25% EWS reservation in private schools.
PIES Development — Four dimensions of development: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social. Remember "child eats PIES to grow completely" for holistic development coverage.
Cephalocaudal-Proximodistal Pair — Development principles: Cephalocaudal = head to toe (Ceph = head); Proximodistal = center to extremities (Proxim = near/center first). Sequential direction of growth.
Formative vs Summative = FOR vs OF — Assessment FOR Learning = Formative (ongoing, during teaching); Assessment OF Learning = Summative (final judgment after teaching). "FOR during, OF after."
A/AN Rule Quick — Use AN before vowel *sounds* (an hour, an MLA), A before consonant sounds (a university, a one-rupee coin). Sound matters, not spelling letter.
Subject-Verb Distance Trap — Ignore words between subject-verb: "The bag of marbles *is* here" (bag=singular subject). Prepositional phrases (of/with/along with) don't change subject number.
Modal Certainty Scale — Certainty descending: must/will > should/ought to > can/may/might. "Must" = 95% sure; "might" = 20% sure. Use for logical deduction questions.
Preposition TIME Rule (ION-AT) — IN months/years/seasons, ON dates/days, AT specific times. "IN 2024, ON Monday, AT 5 PM" — remember ION-AT sequence for time.
Mathematics (Paper I)
Divisibility by 11 Trick — Alternate digit sum difference: 3784 → (3+8)-(7+4)=0, divisible by 11. If difference is 0 or multiple of 11, number divides by 11.
LCM×HCF Formula — For two numbers: LCM × HCF = Product of the two numbers. If three values given, find fourth instantly. Works only for exactly two numbers.
Fraction to Decimal Shortcuts — ⅛=0.125, ⅙=0.166..., ⅕=0.2, ¼=0.25, ⅓=0.333..., ½=0.5. Memorize these six; others derive from doubling/halving (e.g., 3/8 = 3×0.125).
Area Formulas TRPC — Triangle=½bh, Rectangle=lb, Parallelogram=bh, Circle=πr². Remember bases multiply height except triangle (half) and circle (radius squared).
Profit/Loss % Base Trap — Profit% = (Profit/CP)×100, Loss% = (Loss/CP)×100. Always on Cost Price, never SP. Two successive discounts: NOT additive, use (1-d₁)(1-d₂) formula.
Place Value vs Face Value — Place Value = Face Value × Position. In 5,432: face value of 4=4, place value=4×100=400. Place value changes with position; face never changes.
Environmental Studies (Paper I)
CG Capital Chronicles — Chhattisgarh capital: Raipur (New Raipur = Naya Raipur/Atal Nagar). Formed 1 Nov 2000 from Madhya Pradesh. Remember "2000 millennium state with MP parent."
CG 3-River System — Major rivers: Mahanadi, Godavari, Indravati. "MaGoIn" mnemonic. Mahanadi = lifeline, flows eastward to Odisha; others southward. Source: Dhamtari/MP border regions.
Balanced Diet 5-Food Groups — Cereals, Pulses, Fruits-Vegetables, Milk-Meat, Fats-Sugars. "CP-FM with F&V" — each group essential; deficiency causes specific diseases (protein→kwashiorkor).
Joint Family vs Nuclear — Joint = 3+ generations together; Nuclear = parents+children only. CG traditionally joint family dominant; urbanization shifting to nuclear pattern.
