Parts of Speech
Overview
Parts of speech form the grammatical backbone of English and are essential for CG TET Paper I and Paper II Language II section. Questions typically test your ability to identify word classes in sentences, correct errors involving wrong parts of speech, and fill blanks with appropriate word forms. Mastery here directly impacts your performance in grammar-based MCQs and comprehension passages.
The eight parts of speech classify every English word by its function in a sentence. Understanding these categories helps teachers explain sentence structure to young learners and diagnose common errors. Expect 3–5 direct questions on identification and usage, plus indirect application in error-spotting and sentence-correction items.
