Studying in United Kingdom — the broader picture

Visa: Student Visa (Tier 4). Post-study work: Graduate Route (Post-Study Work Visa) — 2 years for UG/PG, 3 years for PhD. No employer-sponsorship required for the Graduate Route.. PR pathway: Skilled Worker Visa (5 years) → ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain). Salary thresholds are real (~£38,700 for most roles as of 2024). Tighter than the US lottery but the salary bar weeds out a lot.
