Karnataka Backward Classes Welfare Department's food and accommodation allowance for backward-class students in post-matric courses who did not get a seat in a government or government-aided hostel: ₹1,500 a month for 10 months. Students apply on the State Scholarship Portal (SSP). It cannot be held together with a hostel seat.

- ₹1,500 a month for 10 months of the academic year (₹15,000 in all), credited by DBT in one payment to the student's Aadhaar-seeded bank account. The scheme covers food and accommodation only and pays no tuition fees; BCWD's Fee Concession is a separate scheme.

Permanent resident of Karnataka from a notified backward class (Category-1, 2A, 3A or 3B), studying a post-matric course, and NOT admitted to any department's government or government-aided hostel or residential college. Family gross annual income up to ₹2.5 lakh (Category-1) or ₹1 lakh (Categories 2A, 3A, 3B). Must have passed the previous year's annual exam with at least 55% (Category-1 and students with disabilities) or 65% (other backward-class categories). Must be from a rural area at least 5 km from the college, or from a different city/town. Only two sons per family are eligible; the limit does not apply to daughters.
