How to check your JoSAA college chances from your JEE rank
To check your JoSAA chances, open Shishya's free JoSAA college predictor at shishya.in/college-predictor/josaa, type your JEE rank and choose your state. It lists IIT, NIT, IIIT and GFTI programmes whose published opening and closing ranks fit your rank, with a link to JoSAA's own rank tables.
For: JEE Main and Advanced students choosing colleges for JoSAA counselling.
Steps
- Open the predictorGo to the JoSAA college predictor.
- Type your rankType your rank as a number. Use the rank list that applies to the institutes you want (JEE Advanced for IITs, JEE Main for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs).
- Choose your stateYour home state matters for NIT home-state quota seats.
- Read the rowsEach row is a programme with its past opening and closing ranks. A closing rank above your rank means you would have got that seat in that round.
- Check the official tablesOpen JoSAA's own opening and closing ranks from the link on the page before you fill your choices.
Tips
- Past closing ranks move every year; treat close calls as possible, not certain.
- Read the 'How to read the rows' note on the page for category and gender-neutral versus female-only seats.
When Shishya is not the right tool
The predictor reads past published ranks. It cannot promise a seat this year, and it does not fill JoSAA choices for you — that happens on the official JoSAA portal.
