SSC CHSL 2026 Tier-1: Final 72-Hour Checklist & Exam Day Plan
One week to go for SSC CHSL. Here's the cheat-sheet to revise — what to carry, last-mile topics, formulae, mock targets.
You're almost there. Now we consolidate.
With 72 hours to SSC CHSL Tier-1, this is not the time for panic or marathon study sessions. Your job now is to protect what you know — lock in revision, dial in your exam-day logistics, and stay calm. Here's exactly how.
Evening Revision Plan (Tonight, June 3)
Use this schedule to review high-yield topics without exhausting yourself.
| Time | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 19:00–19:45 | Revise English: idioms, one-word substitutions, spelling errors | Quick recall items; 2–3 marks here make a difference |
| 19:45–20:30 | General Awareness: current affairs (April–June 2026), static GK (capitals, sports cups) | 25 questions; low effort, high return |
| 20:30–21:00 | Quantitative Aptitude: formula sheet (time-work, SI/CI, percentage shortcuts) | No problem-solving—just read & recall |
| 21:00–21:30 | Reasoning: series patterns, coding-decoding tricks, blood relation shortcuts | Pattern recognition peaks with fresh eyes |
| 21:30–22:00 | Light dinner, no screen time | Sleep prep begins now |
Do NOT: Attempt a full mock tonight. Your score will fluctuate due to fatigue and will only create anxiety.
The 24-Hour "Don't Do This" List
Students who cleared CHSL wish they'd avoided these mistakes:
- Don't start a new topic. If you haven't done Data Interpretation by now, skip it. Focus on what you have prepared.
- Don't take a mock test on exam eve. A poor score will rattle you; a great score won't teach you anything new.
- Don't stay up past 23:00. A tired brain makes 5–7 more errors in Quant and Reasoning.
- Don't binge-watch current affairs YouTube. Stick to your notes. New videos = information overload.
- Don't eat heavy or outside food. Stomach trouble on exam day is avoidable.
- Don't check Telegram groups after 21:00. Anxiety is contagious.
What to Carry (Verify Against Your Admit Card)
Mandatory:
- Admit card (downloaded from SSC official site — print two copies)
- Valid photo ID (Aadhaar / PAN / Voter ID / Driving License — same as on application form)
- Transparent pouch for stationery
- Blue/black ballpoint pens (carry 3)
- Pencil & eraser (for rough work if allowed at your centre)
Recommended:
- Small water bottle (transparent, label removed)
- Glucose or a chocolate bar (for the break, if allowed)
- Handkerchief / tissues
- A simple wristwatch (analog preferred; verify smartwatches are banned)
Banned:
- Mobile phone, calculator, smartwatch, earphones
- Books, notes, loose sheets
- Any electronic device
Pro tip: Pack everything tonight and keep the pouch near your door. One less thing to worry about tomorrow morning.
Exam Day Timing
- Reporting time: 60 minutes before exam start. Do NOT be late; entry closes 15–20 minutes before the paper.
- Exam duration: 60 minutes (1 hour)
- Question count: 100 questions (25 each: English, GI, Quant, Reasoning)
- Marking: +2 for correct, –0.5 for wrong (negative marking applies)
Plan backward from your exam slot:
- If your shift starts at 10:00 AM, reach the centre by 9:00 AM.
- Leave home by 8:00 AM (city traffic is unpredictable).
- Wake by 6:30 AM (gives you time to eat, revise lightly, and stay calm).
Attempt Strategy Refresher
You've done mocks; you know your speed. Stick to this:
- First 15 minutes: Scan the paper. Identify your strong section (usually English or Reasoning for most). Start there.
- Next 35 minutes: Attempt all sure-shot questions across all four sections. Skip anything that needs >60 seconds.
- Final 10 minutes: Return to skipped questions. Guess intelligently (eliminate 1–2 options), but don't random-mark if you're already at a safe score.
Target: 75–80 correct attempts is a solid Tier-1 score. Quality > quantity. Remember: every wrong answer costs you 0.5 marks.
Tonight's Light Revision Checklist
- English: Revise your error-log (spelling, grammar rules you've marked)
- GK: Skim current affairs notes (major appointments, summits, awards from April–June 2026)
- Quant: Read formula sheet once (don't solve; just recall)
- Reasoning: Go through seating arrangement & syllogism shortcuts
- Check admit card details: name spelling, photo, exam centre address
- Confirm ID proof is in your bag
- Set two alarms for tomorrow morning
A Word on Exam-Day Nerves
It's normal to feel butterflies. Channel that energy:
- At the centre: Don't discuss answers or "difficult questions" with other candidates before the exam. Their anxiety is not yours.
- During the paper: If you're stuck on a question for >45 seconds, mark it and move on. The next question might be easier.
- After the paper: Resist the urge to check answer keys immediately. Give yourself a mental break. Tier-2 prep can start in a few days.
Final Word
You've put in the hours. The syllabus is done, the mocks are behind you. These last 72 hours are about showing up rested and confident. Trust your preparation, double-check your logistics, and walk in knowing you've done the work.
See you on the other side. You've got this.
