- Ex-servicemen (6+ months after attestation): 3 yrs UR/EWS, 6 yrs OBC-NCL, 8 yrs SC/ST after deducting service
- Serving Railway Group C / erstwhile Group D staff and substitutes with 3+ yrs service: max age 40 UR/EWS, 43 OBC-NCL, 45 SC/ST
- Railway quasi-administrative office staff: service length or 5 yrs, whichever less
- Widowed/divorced/judicially separated women not remarried: max 35 UR, 38 OBC-NCL, 40 SC/ST
- Course Completed Act Apprentices trained in Railway establishments: relaxed by training period (max 3 UR/EWS, 6 OBC-NCL, 8 SC/ST incl. community relaxation)
- Those who began Act Apprenticeship before age 25: max 35 UR/EWS, 38 OBC-NCL, 40 SC/ST
- Not cumulative; SC/ST/OBC applying against UR vacancies get no relaxation; PwBD on UR vacancies get PwBD (UR) relaxation only
Application fee
- ₹500: All candidates not in the concession list; Rs 400 refunded (less bank charges) on appearing in CBT
- ₹250: SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minorities, Economically Backward Class; refunded (less bank charges) on appearing in CBT

Other conditions in the notice

- Qualification must be held by closing date; those awaiting results should not apply
- Post-wise medical standards (A2/B1/C1 etc.) and a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) apply
- Some vacancies reserved for Course Completed Act Apprentices trained in Railway establishments
