Reading comprehensionThe concept of 'quiet leadership' has gained traction in recent business literature, suggesting that managers who do not rely on charisma or loud authority can be highly effective. Unlike traditional models that emphasize visible command, quiet leaders often operate through subtle influence, active listening, and the cultivation of trust within their teams. A recent study conducted by a management institute in Pune tracked 200 mid-level managers across various sectors, including manufacturing and IT. The findings revealed that teams led by quiet managers reported higher levels of job satisfaction and lower rates of employee turnover compared to teams led by highly charismatic leaders. This outcome was particularly pronounced in high-stress environments where constant directives from a charismatic boss often led to fatigue and confusion among staff. Quiet leaders, by contrast, tended to empower their subordinates, allowing them autonomy in problem-solving. This approach fostered a sense of ownership and accountability within the team. However, the study also noted a caveat: quiet leadership was less effective in crisis situations requiring immediate, decisive action. In such scenarios, the lack of visible direction sometimes led to hesitation, causing delays in critical decision-making. Therefore, the researchers concluded that while quiet leadership offers significant benefits in stable, routine operations, it may not be the optimal style for every organizational context. Leaders are advised to adapt their style based on the specific demands of the situation, blending quiet influence with decisive action when necessary. This nuanced approach suggests that leadership effectiveness is not about choosing one style over another, but rather about the flexibility to switch between modes as the environment dictates. What does the term 'pronounced' most nearly mean in the context of the sentence 'This outcome was particularly pronounced in high-stress environments'?

Shishya's practice paper
One full paper of 108 questions in 120 minutes, in the official sections and counts (Language Skills 36, Quantitative Skills 36, Logical Reasoning 36). The questions are Shishya's own — drafted with AI, then read and answer-checked by a person — not questions from any past NMAT paper.
- The real NMAT is computer-adaptive and scaled (36 to 360), with each section timed on its own. This paper is fixed: 108 questions in 120 minutes, one mark for each right answer, so its score is not an NMAT score.
