- Category differential: General cutoffs typically run 40–80 marks higher than OBC, and 80–120 marks above SC/ST. PwD categories receive additional relaxation of 20–40 marks within their respective reservation groups.
- Year-on-year variation: Cutoffs fluctuate ±20–30 marks based on paper difficulty, total candidature, and seat matrix changes. Easier papers push all cutoffs upward; tougher clinical-oriented questions compress the qualifying threshold.
- Qualifying vs. meaningful scores: While cutoffs represent minimum eligibility, competitive branch allocation (MD/MS clinical) realistically begins around 500+ for General (62.5%), 450+ for OBC (56%), and 400+ for SC/ST (50%) in All-India quota counseling.
