How to prepare (with or without coaching)
Self-study is completely viable for HP PAT — the syllabus is 10th class CBSE/HPBOSE, and lakhs of students crack it without coaching. Here's your realistic path:
Foundation building (Months 1-2) Start with NCERT textbooks (Class 10) for all three subjects. These are your bible. Read each chapter, understand concepts, solve every example and exercise. HP PAT questions are straightforward applications of these fundamentals — no tricks, no JEE-level complexity. Mathematics requires special attention: dedicate 50% of your study time here since it's calculation-intensive.

- Free mock tests: Take full-length HP PAT mocks every weekend from month 2 onwards. This builds speed and exam temperament

With coaching (if affordable) Local coaching in Himachal (Shimla, Dharamshala, Mandi) costs ₹8,000-15,000 for 3-4 months. Benefits: structured timetable, peer pressure, doubt sessions. But honestly, coaching is NOT mandatory — the exam tests Class 10 basics, which you already studied recently.
