GPSC Class 1-2 Prelims 2026: Last-Week Checklist & Revision Plan
One week to go for GPSC Class 1-2. Here's the cheat-sheet to revise — what to carry, last-mile topics, formulae, mock targets.
You've come this far — now lock it in
With less than a week left, the goal isn't to learn new chapters. It's to consolidate what you already know, ensure zero admin slip-ups on exam day, and walk in calm. This checklist will get you there.
Evening revision plan (next 5 days)
Use this table as a flexible guide — adapt slots to your weak areas, but stick to the type of task for each time block.
| Time | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 18:00–19:30 | Gujarat history, geography, economy one-pagers; current CM schemes | High-weightage; factual; quick recall drill |
| 19:30–20:00 | Dinner break | Brain needs glucose |
| 20:00–21:00 | Current affairs: last 12 months (national + Gujarat focus) | Revision, not first read — scan your notes/monthly compilations |
| 21:00–21:45 | Polity/Economy conceptual notes (Constitution articles, budget terms) | Cement understanding; prevent negative marking on tricky MCQs |
| 21:45–22:15 | Mental Math shortcuts, Gujarati grammar rules (if paper has language section) | Speed matters; these are free marks if you're quick |
| 22:15–22:30 | Tomorrow's flashcard topic list; set phone alarm | Sleep is non-negotiable |
Two days before exam: Stop heavy reading. Switch to flashcards, mind maps, and previously-marked "revision" questions only.
Night before exam: One final sweep of your own error log (questions you got wrong in mocks). No textbooks. Lights out by 22:30.
What to carry (print this list)
Absolute essentials — exam hall will not let you in without these:
- Admit card (2 printed copies)
- Valid photo ID (Aadhaar / Voter ID / Passport / Driving License — name must match admit card)
- Passport-size photos (verify your admit card for quantity; usually 2–3 spare copies)
Stationery & accessories:
- Black/blue ballpoint pens (carry 3–4; some centres ban gel pens — check admit card)
- Pencil + eraser (for rough work if OMR has a rough-work section)
- Transparent pouch (many centres mandate this for pen/pencil storage)
- Analog wristwatch (no smartwatches; hall clocks may be behind you)
Comfort items (allowed in most centres, but verify):
- Water bottle (transparent, label removed)
- Glucose tablets / small chocolate bar (unwrapped, in transparent bag)
- Hand sanitizer (small bottle)
Leave at home / in your bag outside the hall:
- Mobile phone, smartwatch, calculator, loose paper, bluetooth devices, wallet with metal clips.
Exam-day timing: play it safe
- Reporting time: Verify on your admit card. Typically 30–60 minutes before the exam start time. Gate closes 10 minutes before the exam begins — after that, you will not be allowed in, no exceptions.
- Travel buffer: Add 45–60 minutes to your usual commute. Assume traffic, document checks at multiple layers (campus gate, block gate, exam hall).
- Recce the venue: If possible, visit the centre one day before. Locate your block/room, nearby washrooms, drinking water.
On exam morning:
- Wake up 3 hours before you need to leave.
- Light breakfast (avoid heavy fried food — you don't want a sluggish brain or an emergency washroom trip mid-exam).
- Flip through your one-page cheat-sheet (the single A4 summary you made during prep) — but don't start solving questions.
- Leave home with everything on the checklist above. Double-check the admit card as you lock your door.
Don't do this (final 24-hour anti-list)
Students repeatedly make these mistakes. You won't.
| Don't | Why it backfires |
|---|---|
| Attempt a full-length mock the night before | Fatigue, anxiety spiral if you score poorly; you need rest, not stress |
| Start a new topic (e.g., "I never covered Indian art properly") | No time to retain; creates panic; trust that you've covered enough |
| Rely on someone else to print your admit card | Server crashes, printer jams — own this task yourself 2 days in advance |
| Stay up past midnight "revising" | Sleep deprivation kills recall speed and decision-making under time pressure |
| Drink 3 cups of tea/coffee on exam morning | Jittery hands, frequent washroom urge — exam halls rarely allow mid-exam exits |
| Discuss answers outside the hall during break (if multi-session exam) | Demoralizes you for the next paper; what's done is done |
| Carry your phone "just in case" in your pocket | Automatic disqualification if it rings or is found, even if switched off |
A final word
You've spent months on this. The last week is about showing up sharp, not cramming miracles. Prioritize sleep, hydrate, and remember: GPSC Prelims is a marathon of endurance and accuracy, not brilliance under pressure.
Stay off Telegram/WhatsApp exam-stress groups tonight. You know what you know. Go prove it.
All the best.
