History of India and Assam
Treaty Year Anchor (1826) — Yandabo Treaty = 1826. Remember "Ya-26" (Yandabo sounds like "Ya" in 26). British gained Assam after First Anglo-Burmese War; Burma ceded territories east of Brahmaputra.
Saraighat Battle (1671) — Lachit's victory in 1671: "16-71 = Lachit-wins-1" (L=1 in Roman). Mughals defeated on Brahmaputra; Lachit Borphukan's brilliant naval strategy saved Assam from Aurangzeb's forces.
Ahom Timeline — Ahom rule 1228-1826 = exactly 598 years. Founded by Sukaphaa (Tai prince); ended with Yandabo Treaty. Remember "12-28" as Christmas digits for start year.
Moamoria Rebellion Span — 1769-1805 (36 years). Think "Mo-36" (Moamoria lasted 36). Peasant-monks revolt against Ahom aristocracy; severely weakened kingdom before British takeover.
Kamarupa Period — Ancient Assam (4th-12th century CE) was Kamarupa. "Kama-Rupa" = Beautiful form; capital Pragjyotishpura (modern Guwahati). Ruled by Varman and Pala dynasties before medieval kingdoms.
Koch Dynasty Founder — Biswa Singha founded Koch dynasty (early 16th century). His son Nara Narayan and general Chilarai expanded it. Remember "Biswa = World" (Bengali), they aimed to rule wide territories.
Geography of India and Assam
Brahmaputra Tributaries — Major left-bank: "DLSB" = Dhansiri, Lohit, Subansiri, Burhi Dihing. Right-bank includes Kameng, Manas. Left tributaries longer as they originate from Himalayas.
Barak Valley Districts — Three Barak valley districts: "CCH" = Cachar, Chhachal (Hailakandi), Karimganj (starts with K but remember as third). Southern Assam, Bengali-majority region.

Kaziranga National Park — One-horned rhino sanctuary; established 1908. "Kazi = 1 horn" mnemonic. UNESCO site; also has highest tiger density. Located in Golaghat-Nagaon districts.

Sixth Schedule Districts — Assam has 3 Sixth Schedule areas: "KNC" = Karbi Anglong, North Cachar Hills (Dima Hasao), Bodoland (BTC). Autonomous councils for tribal self-governance under Article 244(2).
Assam Legislative Assembly Seats — 126 total seats (includes 1 nominated Anglo-Indian till 2020 abolition). Now 126 elected seats. Remember "Assam = 126 = close to 125 (easy number)."
