What they actually do

CAs handle audit, tax, financial reporting, advisory, forensic accounting, M&A, valuation. Roles span Big-4 audit firms (Deloitte/PwC/KPMG/EY), in-house at large companies (Tata, RIL, etc.), independent practice, banking, and startups (as CFOs).

How to become a Chartered Accountant (CA)

2 viable paths.

  • Class 12 → CA Foundation → Intermediate → Articleship → Final

    Most direct. 4.5 years from Class 12 if no attempts wasted (rare). Intermediate has 3 attempts/year.

  • Graduate → CA Direct Entry (skip Foundation)

    B.Com/BBA grads with required marks can skip Foundation. Common route.
