Candidates must possess relevant teacher education qualifications as per NCTE norms. For Category I (Classes I-V), D.Ed or B.Ed is required. For Category II (Classes VI-VIII), B.Ed with relevant subject graduation is mandatory. Category III (Classes IX-X) requires B.Ed with postgraduate degree in the concerned subject.

Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan has clarified that KTET qualification certificates remain valid for seven years from the date of result declaration. Candidates who qualified in earlier cycles can use their certificates for teacher recruitment processes during the validity period without re-appearing for the exam.
