## Expected cutoffs (category-wise)
| Category | Expected cutoff (indicative) |
|----------|------------------------------|
| General | 105–125 marks (49–58%) |
| OBC-NCL | 95–115 marks (44–53%) |
| SC | 75–95 marks (35–44%) |
| ST | 70–90 marks (32–42%) |
| PwD | 70–90 marks (32–42%) |

**Guidance:**

- **Typical gap**: OBC cutoffs run 8–12% lower than General; SC/ST cutoffs are typically 12–18% below General, reflecting the challenging nature of NSEA where absolute scores remain modest even among qualifiers.

- **Year-to-year variation**: Cutoffs fluctuate ±5–8 marks depending on paper difficulty, question distribution (more/fewer numerical problems), and the size of the appearing cohort. Unusually easy or difficult years can shift thresholds by 10+ marks.

- **Context**: These cutoffs target INO qualification (borderline to comfortable zone). OCSC selection (top ~300–350 all-India) typically requires General candidates to score 170+ marks (≥79%), well above qualification thresholds. Remember NSEA has no official category reservations in OCSC merit, but INO qualification itself may reflect these indicative bands.
